RIGA
Riga, the vibrant capital of Latvia, is the largest city in the country as well as amongst the Baltic States. Situated on the meeting point of Baltic Sea and the River Daugava, Riga is the cultural and commercial hub of the Baltic region. It is one of Eastern Europe's most exciting places that remained hidden away from the world's view for over half a century during the Soviet occupation.
Today, Riga is a dynamic city with exciting possibilities. It is also an important transport junction due to its crossroads location between Western Europe and huge Eastern markets. The city is aesthetically divided into two parts, namely, Old Riga and New Riga. The famous Riga Castle was originally built in 1330 for the Livonian Order of Knights and now it is the official home of the President of Latvia. The best art galleries, restaurants and hotel buildings in this part of the city all together are enough to give an unforgettable experience to the travellers.
