BRATISLAVA
Bratislava is one of the newcomers in Europe’s urban tourism destinations. It is the capital city of Slovakia and is situated on the south-western parts of the country by the banks of River Danube. Bratislava has enjoyed its existence as a capital city right from the days of the centuries-old Kingdom of Hungarian. It is the political hot seat of the country after Czechoslovakia ceased to exist in 1993 and an independent republic of Slovakia emerged. Today Bratislava is an important road and rail center with a bustling Danubian port.

Rising out of the ashes of foreign oppressions, Bratislava is now considered one of the most dynamically developing and prospective regions of Europe. It houses the largest number of people compared to any other Central European cities. Geographically, Bratislava is positioned in proximity to the cities of Vienna and Budapest, the respective capitals of Austria and Hungary. This supreme location has contributed immensely in development of the tourism and hotel trade of Bratislava. The city’s natural beauty is enhanced by the towering mountain ranges of the Small Carpathians and serene riverside of Danube.
Bratislava nurtures its ancient past and heritage with much care and respect that is evident from the still glittering remnants from the past. To save the numerous royal houses from decaying many have been transformed into different forms of accommodation and sometimes are let out as apartments for rent. The famous Bratislava castle with its characteristic shape of "a table upside-down" has been the residence of Hungarian kings. The ruins of the Devin castle above the confluence of the rivers Danube and Morava are one of the most important sites in Slovakia. It attracts large number of tourists who often board in to the nearby hostels or bread and breakfasts to get a better part of this historic rendezvous.
