Antalya has come a long way from the days when it was known as Adalia or Attalia. Preserving the rich heritage, the city revolves around amazing sceneries of contrasts. On one hand the city beholds the wooden balconies, the Anamur, the Mamure castle from the historic times while on the other hand it is a chic tourist destination with palm-lined boulevards around houses, restaurants and bed and breakfasts. The city is full of surprises and provides all sorts of entertainments. The city enjoys sunshine 300 days in a year. In March and April, at Antalya, you can ski on the slopes in the mornings but can swim in the warm waters of the Mediterranean in the afternoons. Or else you can brood over a cup of coffee sitting by one of the picturesque waterfalls of Kursunlu and Manavgat.
Antalya is a treasure trove of archeological splendours with sites in the surroundings such as Termessos, Aspendos, Olympos, Phaselis. Tourists can lodge in any of the available apartments for rent or hostels to go around the city conveniently. In ancient times, Antalya was referred to as Pamphylia, which means "the land of all tribes". And it continues with this reputation, embracing visitors from all parts of the world.
