Yemen embraces you with friendly and welcoming people, several ancient traditions and a significant cultural heritage. It makes travelling a true lifetime experience when you visit one of the most stunning landscapes in the world. Yemen is a nature-lover's paradise where you can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of its sweeping vistas, towering rock faces and boundless desert lands. Those of calm disposition will probably prefer a camel ride or a night under the stars in a Bedouin tent. Located in Southwest Asia, Yemen is privileged by a far-stretched shoreline that goes by the Arabian Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Red Sea. The topography of the country is mostly dominated by barren and arid lands.
Yemen’s history dates back to the earliest civilisations of humanity. In successive centuries it reeled under the reigns of the Minaean, Sabaean, Himyarite, Qatabanian, Hadhramawtian, and Awsanian kingdoms. In A.D. 628 it converted to Islam and Ottoman Turks nominally occupied the area from 1538. Protesting against the Egyptian intervention, civil war erupted in Syria that also involved USSR. The People's Republic of Southern Yemen was established on November 30, 1967 to fight out the British forces. Finally, the Republic of Yemen was established on May 22, 1990.
