Subsequently, the hotel industry in the city has flourished like never before and several bed and breakfasts have come up around the city.
Kyoto is located at the centre of the Japanese archipelago and blooms over an area of 4,612.71 sq km. The city is encompassed by beautiful mountain ranges and the coastlines are blessed with many scenic spots and good ports. The best attraction of Kyoto lies in its ancient houses, such as the traditional ‘machiya’ accommodations. However, bowing to the need of modernisation, many of these buildings are giving way to stylish malls. They are also often let as apartments for rent and tourists should try one of them to get a first hand feel of the bygone era. Otherwise, if you are on a tight budget, you can go for the youth hostels of Kyoto that come against reasonable rates with all comforts. Kurama is a rural town in the northern mountains of Kyoto City and is best known for its temple Kurama-dera and its hot spring.
