MOMBASA

Mombasa is a tourism paradise with unspoilt nature that can be enjoyed through the nautical sports, mountaineering and long walks. From pavement cafes and piano bars to the lively bazaars and markets, visitors to this city of Kenya can see the full spectrum of a colourful society. Mombasa is very much the heart of modern Kenyan aestheticism and the streets of the city are a parade of life and its celebration. The real and unique character of this former capital of the country is to be found in the various expressions of popular culture. Mombasa has a thriving music scene and the clubs and bars of hotels are an excellent place to check out live bands. In the city centre, tourists and traders mingle with busy commuters and life goes on at a frantic pace. Surprisingly, after all these city buzz, while taking a stroll down few blocks one will suddenly be exposed to a serene view of the horizon by the Indian Ocean.
Geographically, Mombasa is located over an island of its namesake that is linked with the mainland Kenya through the Nyali Bridge to the north, to the south by the Likoni Ferry and to the west by Makupa Causeway. It is Kenya's chief port and an important commercial and industrial centre of East Africa. Mombasa is the place where Portuguese explorer Vasco De Gama first anchored his ship and introduces the exotic land of Kenya to the rest of the world. Today it has emerged as a hot destination travel and tourism. Mombasa welcomes in the globetrotters with plethora of accommodation options like hotels and bed and breakfasts and restaurant and bar facilities. Travellers can also take self-service houses or apartments for rent in convenient locations of the city. And if you want to save on accommodation expense and instead get the best of safari expeditions, several reasonable hotels and hostels are also available in Mombasa.
