A view of Nairobi

Nairobi is a glamorous cosmopolitan that reflects a symbiosis of the European colonial legacy and ethnic tribal traditions. The exciting cultural traits of the city are highlighted in its people, accommodations and customs associated with survival and leisure activities. Blooming on over the foothills of Mount Kenya, Nairobi is the capital city of Kenya. It is the administrative, communications and economic epicentre of the country and is the largest urban address in whole of East Africa. The city houses a teeming population of near about 3 to 4 million people and also shelters temporary human flow of leisure tourists and business travellers. The geographical surrounding of Nairobi also supplements its reputation as a tourism hot spot. Adjacent to the Mount Kilimanjaro, the city prospers over the Great Rift Valley. It is also home to the popular Nairobi National Park that provides you a close glimpse of the wildlife of Kenya.
It is believed that the best way to discover the real character of Nairobi is to explore and experience the sights and sounds of the city streets. Nairobi is traditionally the land of the Massai tribe and gets it name from the Massai word of Ewaso Nyirobi, meaning, "cool waters". It was born as an urban setting when railway construction workers of the Uganda Railway reached this area in 1899 and set up a basic camp and supply depot. This brought in several Indian workers and in present day Nairobi the influence of Indian community is undeniable. Today, Nairobi is a bustling city with plethora of glittery hotels, bed and breakfasts, restaurants, an animated nightlife, discotheques and pubs. The Nairobi Railway Museum and the National Museum of Kenya are some of the most interesting places here. Tourists can take houses or apartments for rent around the business district of Nairobi to get the best transportation facilities. Other inexpensive accommodation options like youth hostels are also available in Nairobi.
