CANARY ISLANDS
“Canary Island: The land of perpetual spring”: This is one way to introduce the Canary Islands to the willing tourist; however, the overall urbanization of Nature is something that allows one to feel ‘at home’ – thanks to the solidified shorelines, flashy apartment blocks and bars. But the catch is – the 30 million years old archipelago of seven islands in the Atlantic Ocean also offers its visitors some of the best beaches in the world and an easy escape from a chilly European winter. The naming was done as per the Latin Insularia Canaria (Island of the Dogs, originally applied only to the island of Gran Canaria). An autonomous region (Comunidad Autónoma) since 1982, the Canary Islands are still in an attempt to boost their political strength. Each of the seven major islands (Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Lanzarote, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro, Fuerteventura) is under an assembly named Cabildo Insular.

So what to expect from the Fortunate Islands, as the Romans called it once? Though a large portion of the islands is undergoing an overhaul, but the continuous coastline provides the necessary stimulation. Each of the islands possesses its own a beauty that’s enhanced further with a livelier holiday crowd. The fishy kinds (no offence meant) shall be absolutely overwhelmed by the deep waters around; these are home to the pilot whales. A hotel at Tenerife is considered a comfortable accommodation and they take over rented houses, apartments or hostels any given day. The Spring Hotel Playa La Arena Hotel is considered a wise choice while Hotel Riu Palace Maspalomas at Maspalomas, Grand Canary is a superior form of paid accommodation. Cheaper accommodation is primarily a hostel or an apartment for rent, Rural Las Calas and Villa del Monte being the most popular ones, respectively. Ready for a whale of a time?
